The age-old epic from India - The Ramayana deals with the great truths as seen in the fight between good and evil. These are recurring themes in fables and epics from across the world and the workshop program will set out to explore these and other issues and the commonality of theme which binds diverse social groups, religions and others together - a theme which needs to be reiterated in these times of strife.

Bulbul Sharma will share a story from this epic with the children and then have them paint their own interpretation. Each child’s work will be added to what would be 20-foot canvas art installation. A theatre workshop based around this theme will lead to small performances by the children using the art installation as a backdrop.

Tabla

Gyan and Aushim will conduct a series of workshops on the tabla in over 10 different cities in the UK. These master classes and technique improvement workshop is the first step in establishing an institute for tabla and Kathak in the UK Dance

Dance

Bijayini Satpathy will host an Oddissi master class at Dance Base in Edinburgh. Se will also take workshop sessions in Birmingham, London and Manchester.

Giles Chuyen will host Bollywood style dance classes at Dance Base, Edinburgh

Puppettry

Dadi Pudumjee will host a two-week workshop with the Asian community in Edinburgh leading up to the Edinburgh Mela.
